The salvadoran government continues to support tourism as a key tool for the economic growth of El Salvador, through the modernization of immigration services. This strategy seeks to facilitate the entry and exit of visitors, thus boosting the dynamization of tourism-related sectors, such as hotels, gastronomy, transportation, and local commerce.

During the Easter vacations, the country experienced a significant increase in the migratory flow, with 546,944 entries and exits. This figure reflects a significant increase over the previous year and evidences the positive impact of the coordinated efforts of institutions such as Migration and Alien Affairs, the Ministry of Tourism, CEPA, the PNC and the Armed Forces.
“We want every tourist visiting our country to have a memorable experience from the first contact with our immigration services. That is why we work together to guarantee an agile, safe, and efficient process”, said the director of Migration, Ricardo Cucalón.

One of the most relevant access points during this season was the Las Chinamas border, which registered the highest flow of visitors, especially from Guatemala. This preference is due to the optimization of procedures and improved service, which strengthens regional connectivity and stimulates border tourism.
The use of technology, such as the immigration pre-check system, has been fundamental in speeding up processes at entry points. This innovation reduces waiting times and improves the visitor experience, which translates into greater tourism competitiveness and tangible economic benefits for the country.

With these actions, El Salvador is moving towards a sustainable and profitable tourism model, which not only generates foreign exchange and boosts employment, but also positions the country as an attractive international destination. The government’s commitment is clear: to foster an environment conducive to economic development through efficient and modern tourism.
