U.S. President Donald Trump has launched new accusations against China, pointing to an alleged breach of a trade agreement. This pact, according to Trump, sought to ease tariff tensions imposed by Washington.

Through his social network Truth Social, Trump claimed that China “has totally violated its agreement” with the United States. He stressed that the pact had stabilized the Chinese economy and avoided an adverse situation for the Asian giant.
This recent pronouncement revives the debate on mutual tariffs that had been the subject of negotiations. Previously, both powers had agreed on significant reductions and suspensions of these rates.

As part of that understanding, the United States had lowered its duties on Chinese imports from 145% to 30%. For its part, China reduced its retaliatory tariffs from 125% to 10%, seeking a trade balance.

However, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent had already indicated a “stalemate” in the trade talks. New rounds of dialogue are expected, without ruling out a possible communication between Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping.
