El Salvador took a historic step in international cooperation by joining the United States Global Entry Program, facilitating the expedited entry of salvadoran citizens to the North American country. The agreement was signed during President Nayib Bukele’s official visit to Washington, accompanied by senior security officials.

Minister of Security Gustavo Villatoro signed the agreement with U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Nohem. This partnership was made possible after El Salvador obtained Level 1 travel alert status from the State Department, recognizing it as a safe destination for international travelers.

Global Entry is an initiative of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) that allows pre-approved, low-risk travelers to enter the country more quickly through automated kiosks, bypassing conventional immigration processes. With this incorporation, El Salvador becomes the first country in Central America to join the program.
