With the aim of spreading the Italian culinary tradition in the salvadoran community, this year Banco CUSCATLAN supports the Embassy of Italy in the country with a series of activities open to the public to promote the cuisine and food products of the european country.
From november 16 to 22 the culinary week is being promoted, called: Mediterranean Diet and Roots Cuisine: Health and Tradition.
Several activities will take place, among which are two masterclasses, given by chef Gionata Fama; and carried out in collaboration with the World Food Programme and the Ministry of Tourism. The first will be given to fifteen entrepreneurs in the catering sector of Chalatenango, beneficiaries of the UN Women MELYT program and twenty-five students of Gastrolab, a structure created by the synergy between the World Food Programme and MITUR.
A second masterclass will be held on november 22 at the Academia Panamericana de Arte Culinario (APAC), which will be attended by fifty students from the Asociación de Chef de El Salvador, chaired by chef Manuel Cuerno.
The masterclasses will address the theoretical elements of Italian cuisine as well as practical aspects, including the preparation of fresh pasta and traditional sauces, thus contributing to the development of the participants’ culinary and business skills.
The Week of Italian Cuisine in the World, promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, is an annual event dedicated to valorize Italian cuisine, with special attention to its traditional roots; as well as the role of the Mediterranean diet to promote health, in the context of a healthy, balanced and sustainable lifestyle.
Also the Ministerio de Turismo salvadoreño (MITUR), and international organizations such as UN Women and the World Food Program will support this culinary week of Italian gastronomy.
