BYD Auto, a subsidiary of the Chinese multinational BYD Co. Ltd., marks its official arrival in El Salvador with the inauguration of the first of three showrooms that will open this year in the country. The store, located in San Salvador, has been operational since september 2024, and its opening reflects the brand’s commitment to sustainability and technological innovation in the automotive sector.
Andrés Zamora, BYD brand manager in El Salvador, highlighted that the company offers a wide range of vehicles, from hatchbacks to high-performance sports and electric SUVs, with prices ranging from US$23,000 to US$55,000. “Our focus is to get closer to Salvadorans, with more technology, superior equipment and significant fuel savings, which can reach up to 75% compared to traditional gasoline vehicles”, said Zamora.
As part of its strategy, BYD includes the installation of domestic charging stations in the price of the vehicle, eliminating dependence on public stations and providing greater convenience to its customers. This comprehensive approach has been key to winning over more than 40 buyers in the country since the start of its operations.
The brand also plans to expand with two new showrooms in San Miguel and Santa Ana during 2025, as part of a significant investment that seeks to position BYD as a leader in sustainable mobility in El Salvador. According to Zamora, the company is collaborating with banking institutions to offer financing on favorable terms, taking advantage of the reduced rates and extended terms available for hybrid and electric vehicles.
BYD also stands out for its commitment to sustainability. Its vehicles not only offer zero emissions, but significantly reduce environmental impact by eliminating the use of oil and other polluting products associated with traditional vehicle maintenance. BYD Global’s mission, “to cool the Earth by one degree” is reflected in each of its models designed to contribute to a greener future.
Government support for the import of electric vehicles, with tariff benefits, has been a key incentive for BYD’s arrival in El Salvador. The brand has passed these savings directly to consumers, achieving highly competitive prices. In addition, vehicle configurations are adapted to local road conditions, guaranteeing durability and performance.
With these plans, BYD Auto is ready to transform the salvadoran automotive market, leading the transition towards more sustainable and accessible mobility for all.
