In order to continue promoting sustainable and resilient construction in the region, Grupo AG launched today the Grade 80 Steel Rod in an event that took place in San Salvador, El Salvador.
The Grade 80 Steel Rod innovation is a product made from 100% recyclable steel that is used in the construction of infrastructure and buildings, has ductility and elasticity to achieve a high standard of structural safety, since its use allows the creation of the base on which the structures of the works, such as beams and columns, are built.
“Today we are formally introducing this product in the country, a product manufactured with 100% sustainable raw material. It is worth mentioning that one of our customers in El Salvador built a project with Grade 80 rebar, which contributes to sustainable construction”, said Isabel Moya, Marketing director of Grupo AG.
The use of Grade 80 Steel Rod allows reducing the amount of steel in a structure, making it more efficient for constructions, making it an ideal product for reinforcements, armor, settlements, buildings and bridges, providing greater seismic resistance, according to the ASTM A706 standard.
An eco-friendly material
This product is verified by the Guatemala Green Business Council (GGBC) in its green catalog (https://catalogoverde.org.gt/). Its use in different construction projects is a key enabler for projects to be recognized and documented for their contribution to the following certification systems: CASA Guatemala, EDGE and LEED.
The Grade 80 Steel Rod has contributed to reduce the environmental impacts generated during construction, encouraging the proper use of water, renewable energy and environmentally friendly building materials, all in order to make construction projects sustainable.
In addition, it aims to erect efficient and environmentally friendly buildings, while ensuring the structural soundness of the work and the economic profitability of the project. The choice of materials used in construction should prioritize the selection of more environmentally tolerant materials, recovered and restored or with a percentage of reuse.
Although all the rods are made of steel -a 100% recyclable material-, they are not all the same, since they have a composition that makes them different from the rest, since they have a detailed measurement in grades, which indicates the kind of purposes in which they can be used.
Currently, Grupo AG is the only company that offers Grade 80 Steel Rod in the region: “Our total commitment to the client is not only reflected in offering high quality products, but also in our contribution to improving lives and transforming our society”, concluded Moya.
