The report details the significant progress the company has made around its strategic impact pillars—people, prosperity, and planet—the connection of these efforts to its business objectives, as well as opportunities for improvement for the future.

Empowering all people to reach their full potential

Mastercard continues to foster a workplace and a world where everyone can thrive, driven by a culture of community and belonging.
• More than 90% of employees who participated in the 2024 survey indicated they were proud to work at Mastercard.
• Employees volunteered more than 135,000 hours in local communities during 2024, representing an 11% increase compared to 2023.
• 309,000 students participated in the Kids4Tech and Girls4Tech programs in 2024, reaching more than 12 million students in 65 countries and territories since its inception in 2014.
Driving prosperity around the world
Mastercard focuses on helping everyone participate in the digital economy by connecting them with tools and resources that enable them to build paths to prosperity for their families, communities, and beyond. This work is carried out in conjunction with the company’s strategic partners.
• From 2015 to 2024, 960 million people have been connected to the digital economy, advancing toward the goal of reaching 1 billion by 2025.
• From 2020 to 2024, 65 million micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) have been connected to the digital economy, exceeding the company’s target.
• 19 million micro and small businesses were reached through Mastercard Strive between 2021 and 2024, exceeding the proposed goal.
• 7 million users have registered on the Community Pass platform since 2018, in countries such as Ethiopia, India, Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda.
• More than $47.9 billion in fraud losses were avoided over the past three years thanks to a single AI-powered cybersecurity solution.
Preserving the planet for future generations
Mastercard understands that a prosperous economy requires a healthy planet. Therefore, it is actively working to achieve net-zero emissions and accelerate the transition to a regenerative, low-carbon economy.
• A 7% reduction in Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions year-over-year, while net revenue grew 12%, reflecting a continued decoupling between corporate growth and greenhouse gas emissions
• 71% of the company’s top emitting suppliers have committed to science-based targets to reduce their emissions and have reported their progress through the CDP, public reports, or supplier agreements
• For the eighth consecutive year, the company generated or procured 100% of its energy from renewable sources for its operations
• Since 2020, 26 million trees have been funded for restoration through the Priceless Planet Coalition initiative, advancing toward the 100 million tree goal
