The announcement was made as part of the 2026 FIPA Awards, in its 22nd edition, and the 18th FIPA SUV and Truck of the Year selection, a continental distinction determined by the vote of 86 professional journalists from 21 countries, from the United States to Chile and the Caribbean.
The evaluation process was based on the professional expectations for the model in the 2026 cycle and was conducted through direct voting in a single round, under independent journalistic criteria, free from commercial or political bias. In 2025, the Nissan Kicks was named one of the favorite SUVs of the year at the FIPA awards, reinforcing its consistency and performance within a highly competitive segment. The model has also been recognized in key markets such as Brazil, where it has received numerous awards for its value proposition, design, and performance.

Among the awards received are recognitions such as “Best Buy” from Quatro Ruedas 2025 in the SUV category, and “Most Important Launch of the Year” from ‘Jornal do Carro 2026’.
Its previous version also garnered significant acclaim. Highlights include recognitions from Car and Driver Brazil, including “The Best 2016” and “Best SUV 2016”, as well as the “Best Compact SUV 2016” award from L’Auto Preferita.
Furthermore, the model was distinguished as “SUV of the Year 2017” by the Federación Interamericana de Periodistas del Automóvil and as “Best Crossover in Latin America 2017” by Americar.
