Walmart El Salvador reaffirms its commitment to contributing to the well-being of salvadoran families through its participation in the “Unidos Alimentamos” campaign, promoted by the Food Bank of El Salvador.

For World Food Day, the company made a significant donation of basic food products valued at more than US$13,000, in addition to contributing US$41,000 for the construction of new storage units in the Food Bank’s warehouses.

During the announcement, Sandra Cáceres, Corporate Affairs coordinator for Walmart El Salvador, said: “We are proud to continue supporting the Food Bank, a pioneering institution in the fight against hunger in the country. This time, we are reinforcing our support with donations of essential food items and resources that will help expand its storage and distribution capacity. This campaign aligns with our strategy of becoming a regenerative company and promoting well-being for salvadoran families. We are grateful to our customers because they are the number one cause through which we can count on this type of support”.

The “Unidos Alimentamos” campaign seeks to raise awareness and motivate businesses and citizens to collaborate in the fight against hunger. Thanks to these actions, more than 45,000 Salvadorans in vulnerable communities directly benefit from the food recovered and redistributed by the Food Bank, with the support of strategic partners like Walmart.

Irving Melara, president of the Food Bank of El Salvador, stated during the event: “This campaign, Unidos Alimentamos, is very special. It’s a campaign we’ve been developing this month, and thanks to the contribution and commitment of partners like Walmart, we can expand our reach and improve the nutritional quality of the food we deliver to thousands of Salvadorans. Walmart is one of our founding donors, and their continued support in this collaborative work is fundamental to our mission”.

In addition to financial and in-kind donations, Walmart promotes the rescue of food fit for human consumption, but not for sale. Through volunteer programs, its employees have contributed to the rescue of more than 4.7 million pounds of food, strengthening food sustainability and preventing the waste of nutritious products such as fruits, vegetables, and frozen foods.

With this initiative, Walmart El Salvador reaffirms its commitment to working for a more just, supportive, and sustainable society, making tangible its purpose of generating a positive impact on people and the planet.
