More than 400 trees were planted in the Los Almendros protected natural area in Sonsonate as part of a reforestation day organized by Claro El Salvador together with its network of volunteers and members of the local community. The activity is part of a series of actions focused on environmental restoration and strengthening ecological awareness.

During the day, native species selected for their adaptability to the region’s climate and soil were planted, with the aim of ensuring their sustainable development. In addition, an educational talk was given on the importance of reforestation, thus promoting the active participation of the community in protecting the environment.
“This planting day in Los Almendros, Sonsonate, represents a concrete action within our sustainability strategy. We are proud to have the enthusiasm of our volunteers, who with their efforts are contributing directly to the conservation of our natural resources and the well-being of communities”, said Margarita de Preza, Human Resources Manager at Claro El Salvador.
The initiative is part of Claro’s sustainability strategy, which promotes concrete actions aimed at protecting the environment, using resources responsibly, and actively contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Mariella Zepeda, coordinator of Claro El Salvador’s volunteer network, emphasized that each tree planted is a seed of hope for future generations. Seeing young people, families, and employees working together for the same purpose shows that change is possible if it is built as a community.
Los Almendros Beach, located in the municipality of Acajutla, Sonsonate, comprises one of the largest protected natural areas in the country, covering more than 21,000 hectares. Its conservation and care are key to protecting marine and terrestrial ecosystems, as well as maintaining environmental services that benefit nearby communities.
Claro reaffirms its commitment to being an agent of positive change and invites more organizations and citizens to join this type of initiative to continue building a greener and more resilient El Salvador together.
