The Fundación Holcim and the Universidad Don Bosco (UDB) celebrated the graduation of the third edition of the Diploma for Women (ES): Introduction to Construction, a program that reaffirms the commitment of both institutions to inclusion, equity, and the empowerment of salvadoran women in the construction industry.

On this occasion, 21 women successfully completed the 72-hour training, strengthening both their technical and personal skills. The program included modules on emotional intelligence, sustainability, occupational safety, construction principles, masonry, interior structures, and finishes, combining theoretical classes, practical workshops, and technical visits to Holcim plants.
As a new feature this year, each graduate received a toolkit that will allow them to immediately apply the knowledge acquired and continue their development within the industry.

“We are proud to see how this diploma program opens new learning opportunities for women and gives them the confidence that their talent can transform realities. At Holcim, we firmly believe that empowering women means building a more just, equitable, and sustainable future for our communities”, said Rocío Flores, Sustainable Development manager at Holcim El Salvador.
Daysi Rodríguez, a program beneficiary, said, “This diploma program has changed my life. It took away my fear, gave me a safe space to develop, and gave me new skills. Thank you to the Fundación Holcim and the UDB for believing in us and giving us the tools to fulfill our dreams”.

The diploma, a pioneer in its category, seeks to reduce the gender gap in a sector traditionally dominated by men, encouraging women’s participation in trades such as masonry and construction supervision.
With this initiative, the Holcim Foundation and the UDB directly contribute to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 5 and 10, which promote gender equality and the reduction of inequalities, thus strengthening women’s role as agents of change in their communities.
