The Fundación Empresarial para la Acción Social (FUNDEMAS) kicked off this day the twelfth edition of Sustainability Week and CSR, an event considered the largest “networking” on sustainability in El Salvador, which will be held this year from october 8 to 10 with the development of lectures, specialty workshops, fairs of good practices and field visits.
Every year, Sustainability Week brings together more than 2,500 attendees representing small, medium, and large companies, as well as non-governmental organizations, local government, international cooperation, universities, CSOs, among others, to share the main trends, tools, and success stories in sustainability, to inspire Salvadoran companies to make efforts for the sustainable development of the country, economically, socially, and environmentally.
The themes to focus the event for 2024 will focus on: Conscious Capitalism, sustainable investments, gender equality, risk management and climate change. The days of the event are described below:
Tuesday, october 8: “Investing with Purpose: Companies for a Sustainable World”
Objective of the day: To learn about global sustainability trends, implementing environmental, social and governance aspects in their strategies, as well as to make a call for reflection to current and future leaders to commit to this business vision.
Wednesday, october 9: Inclusion and Equity in Businesses
Objective of the day: “To promote the construction of fairer and more sustainable companies, assessing their social impact and promoting inclusive practices that respect human rights and encourage diversity”.
Thursday, october 10: “Acting and Investing in the Climate Crisis: an opportunity for Business Competitiveness”
Objective of the day: To leave the best practices for competitiveness versus climate change from adaptation plans.
It should be noted that in the 2024 edition, Sustainability Week will feature speakers of international relevance, such as, for example:
Raj Sisodia (United States): founding member of the Conscious Capitalism movement, he is Distinguished Professor of Conscious Enterprise and President of the Center for Conscious Enterprise at Tecnológico de Monterrey. He is also co-author of the Best Seller “Conscious Capitalism”.
Axel Christensen (United States): Director of Investment Strategy for Latin America at BlackRock, a firm he joined in 2009, where he is also a member of the Regional Operating Committee for Latin America. He has more than 25 years of experience in investment and finance, holding positions at Cruz del Sur, Moneda Asset Management, AFP Cuprum and Citi, among others. In the area of public policy, he participated in the Capital Markets Advisory Council of the Chilean Ministry of Finance and the Presidential Committee for Pension Reform in 2006.
Alpa Pandya (United States): Creator of equality-based impact campaigns such as Dove and has worked with clients such as Ben & Jerry’s, Stonyfield, Seventh Generation, The US Fund for UNICEF, Comedy Central, The Walt Disney Company, Cirque du Soleil, ABI-InBev, Calvin Klein, Abbott, Target, Pepsico, Givaudan, Hearst Magazines, Bloomberg and different start-ups.
Sebastian Carvallo Albornoz (Chile): Environmental Engineer, Master in Management and Public Policy with 17 years of professional experience in the public, private and academic sectors.
He currently serves as Deputy Director of the Agency for Sustainability and Climate Change and as a professor of Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainability at the Technical University Federico Santa Maria in Chile.
