For Asesuisa, a subsidiary of Grupo Ficohsa in El Salvador, sustainability is an essential part of its corporate strategy. With more than 55 years in the market, the insurer has made Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) criteria central to its management, demonstrating that its commitment to the planet and society goes hand in hand with its goal of providing protection to salvadorans.
Asesuisa’s commitment to the environment is reflected in concrete actions:
• 70 volunteers, including employees, advisors, and family members, participated in the recent reforestation campaign.
• 1,500 trees were planted in the Santa Clara protected natural area in La Paz, with support from the Ministry of the Environment.
• Since 2017, the insurer has planted more than 4,200 trees in different areas of the country.
These activities are part of the “Together for a Sustainable Planet” program, through which 45 suppliers have also been trained in carbon footprint measurement and responsible waste management.

Regarding renewable energy and eco-efficiency, Asesuisa’s commitment to reducing its environmental footprint includes innovative projects:
• Installation of 70 solar panels on its corporate tower, covering up to 80% of the energy consumption on one level of the building.
• Automation of 70% of its processes, significantly reducing paper consumption.
• Carpooling programs that reduce emissions and promote sustainable mobility.
This has resulted in a reduction of 423 tons of CO₂ by 2024, achieving carbon neutrality in Scopes 1 and 2.
Asesuisa’s sustainability is also reflected in its social pillar, in its commitment to its employees and the community:
• Comprehensive Health Program: More than 80 employees benefited from exercise, nutrition, stress management, and mental health activities.
• Corporate Social Responsibility: Partnerships with organizations such as the Salvadoran Red Cross, ConTextos, PONGO, Citalá and Villanueva Schools, Museo Tin Marín Glasswing, Fundemas, among others, to contribute to the sustainable development of our communities.
• Focus on inclusion and empowerment: More than 3,600 women impacted through training, health, and leadership initiatives.

Regarding governance, the insurer has strengthened its organizational culture based on:
• Ethics, integrity, and transparency.
• ESG-based policies in purchasing, diversity, investments, and risks.
• Decision-making with a long-term vision and corporate responsibility.
As part of the Grupo Ficohsa, Asesuisa shares a comprehensive vision of sustainability. In its 2024 Sustainability Report, Ficohsa highlighted the progress of its Salvadoran subsidiary in reforestation, recycling, and renewable energy.
“At Asesuisa, we believe that sustainability is not symbolic, it is strategic. Our actions are aligned with social, environmental, and governance criteria, because we understand that only with responsible decisions today can we guarantee the well-being of tomorrow”, said Lucia Zelaya, Administration and Sustainability manager.
With this comprehensive approach, Asesuisa has established itself as a benchmark in sustainability in El Salvador, demonstrating that protecting the environment, generating social well-being, and acting with transparency are fundamental pillars for building a more prosperous and equitable future for society and the region.
