In the framework of World Food Day, Nestlé El Salvador was recognized by the Banco Mundial de Alimentos de El Salvador (BAES) for its participation in the “Unidos Alimentamos” campaign, promoted by this social aid entity, under the commitment to contribute to the food security of more than 42 thousand salvadorans.
The contribution to these social initiatives is part of Nestlé’s global commitment to people and communities, through a comprehensive approach that encompasses its entire value chain. This starts with food production, quality control in factories, distribution, proper rotation and careful handling of food.
In addition to this, educational campaigns to reduce food loss and waste and the generation of local alliances for the donation of safe products, thus contributing to food security in the communities.
“As a leading global food company, bringing nutrition and wellness to families is one of the main purposes of Nestlé, which takes on a special value to benefit the most vulnerable sectors of society; this certainly strengthens our commitment and genuine intention to continue supporting this noble initiative of the Banco Mundial de Alimentos de El Salvador”, said Patricia Argueta, manager of corporate affairs and communications of Nestlé El Salvador.
In 2024 Nestlé has supported this campaign with more than 3 million portions of food from the category of breakfast cereals, vegetable drinks, soluble coffee and portions of dehydrated soup. Nestlé El Salvador was joined by 14 other companies with the common goal of joining efforts to donate food, collecting 45,817.36 pounds of food and basic necessities for thousands of salvadoran households in vulnerable situations throughout the country.
This donation will be received by the Asociación Civil Alimentos Solidarios who manages the Banco de Alimentos El Salvador and will be in charge of taking it to more than 42 thousand people served through its 60 beneficiary organizations.
“We thank Nestlé for their donation to contribute to the food security and nutrition of thousands of salvadorans. Their help means a lot to us and our 60 beneficiary organizations”, said Irving Melara, president of the Board of Directors of Asociación Civil Alimentos Solidarios, which manages the Banco de Alimentos El Salvador.
