This may 17 is the International Recycling Day, proclaimed by UNESCO, with the objective of promoting proper waste management. Within this framework, the Fundación Empresarial para la Acción Social (FUNDEMAS), in coordination with the AL-INVEST Verde program of the European Union, will develop a waste collection day at El Majahual Beach, La Libertad.

More than 75 volunteers from the companies Productos Diana, La Constancia, ITL, FUNDACIÓN TCS, TERNOVA and FUNDEMAS collaborators will participate in the event. In total, waste will be collected in a 2 kilometer stretch along the beach and its surroundings, which will be delivered to the Ayala Collection Center and Parque Industrial Verde, where they will be classified as inputs for companies and industries whose production processes are in line with environmentally friendly practices.

This collection day is part of the commitments that the participating companies have as part of their sustainability strategies for the benefit of the country: La Constancia, Productos Alimenticios Diana, TERNOVA, ITL, Fundación TCS and FUNDEMAS.

This activity is part of the alliance between the AL-INVEST Verde program of the European Union and FUNDEMAS, called “Encadenamiento de MIPYMES para la Descarbonización”, in collaboration with the Cámara Alemana Salvadoreña de Comercio e Industria (AHK).
This program seeks to promote low-carbon economies through the efficient use of resources in the recycling value chain, with a focus on MSMEs. It also seeks to expand access to markets for the recycling value chain and MSMEs in the tourism sector, to promote increased sales and job creation in these sectors.
