Walmart de México y Centroamérica carried out its second volunteer program of the year to benefit the Banco de alimentos de El Salvador, as part of its actions to achieve zero food waste and become a regenerative company.
On this occasion, the volunteering was supported by 30 volunteers from the Asset Protection area of all store formats, who received reinforcement on the processes of donation of points of sale and food rescue, especially fruits and vegetables. In addition to the training, the volunteers helped in the classification of the donation and the preparation of food packages for the partner institutions.
During the volunteer program, participants learned about two of the communities benefited by the Banco de Alimentos. In addition, neighbors from these localities shared the benefits and positive impact that the program generates in their communities.
“Volunteering is a pillar of Walmart’s sustainability through which we have been benefiting many communities for several years. With these actions, the company reaffirms its commitment to the 0 Food Waste Program on its way to becoming a regenerative company”, said Sandra Cáceres, Corporate Affairs Coordinator for El Salvador.
