AES El Salvador, through its distribution company AES CAESS, reported that during 2025 it invested US$588,000 in various electricity projects in the department of Chalatenango, with the goal of ensuring a more consistent, reliable, and secure supply for more than 100,000 customers in the area.

The company detailed that the work was concentrated in the districts of San Ignacio, Santa Rita, El Paraíso, and Chalatenango, with strategic actions that include the construction of new interconnection circuits between distribution substations, the Normalización de Líneas a Terceros (NLT), comprehensive network maintenance, and meter replacement.
According to AES CAESS, these projects will allow for greater reliability in the energy supply by reducing the risk of interruptions and offering backup alternatives in the event of contingencies. Furthermore, the modernization efforts seek to meet the department’s growing energy demand and strengthen coverage in urban and rural areas.
The distributor emphasized that these investments reflect its commitment to promoting local economic development through more robust electrical infrastructure, capable of ensuring continuity of service for families, businesses, and industries in Chalatenango.

Winter maintenance work
To prevent service interruptions during the rainy season, AES CAESS allocated an additional US$13,000 to maintenance and optimization projects for the electrical grid in the districts of Nueva Concepción and Agua Caliente.
Technical crews carried out cleaning and improvement work on various sections of the grid. In parallel, specialized arborists carried out preventive pruning on 10 kilometers of power lines to prevent branches and trees from causing failures during storms or strong winds.
The company explained that this work not only contributes to the security of supply but also uses sustainable practices to preserve the area’s tree vegetation.

With these actions, AES CAESS reaffirms its commitment to continue investing in Chalatenango and throughout El Salvador, with projects aimed at providing a modern, safe, and environmentally responsible electrical service that supports the growth and well-being of communities.
