El Salvador’s Centro de Trámites de Importaciones y Exportaciones (CIEX) has approved more than 372 new importers and exporters in the first half of 2024. This institution, which functions as the Foreign Trade Single Window, is administered by the Banco Central de Reserva de El Salvador (BCR). Its objective is to support and facilitate export and import processes, simplifying procedures for the country’s entrepreneurs.
The government has played a key role in strengthening El Salvador’s foreign trade. As of july 2024, the BCR’s export report reached US$3,783.8 million dollars. This figure reflects the dynamism of export activities and the competitiveness of Salvadoran products in the global market.
As for imports, the total value up to the same period was US$9,132.5 million dollars. This volume of imports indicates a strong demand for foreign products and raw materials, which are essential for the operation and growth of various industrial sectors in El Salvador.
The work of CIEX, together with the efforts of the BCR, is crucial to maintaining an efficient and competitive trade environment. The approval of new importers and exporters not only boosts foreign trade, but also fosters the country’s economic development by opening new opportunities for Salvadoran companies in the international marketplace.
