With 59 votes in favor, the Legislative Assembly ratified a US$120 million loan with the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD), aimed at improving health care in El Salvador. The contract was signed on may 7, 2025 by the ninister of Finance, Jerson Posada, and a day later by representatives of the IBRD.

The project seeks to optimize access to quality health services, mainly at the primary care level. This includes improving infrastructure, equipment, and training of health personnel at the national level.
Of the total amount, US$93.3 million will be allocated to the construction, remodeling, and equipping of priority health centers, both medical and non-medical. This includes strengthening units that provide direct care to the population.

In addition, US$22.9 million will be invested to strengthen the operational capacity of the Ministerio de Salud (MINSAL), including the training of professionals and the acquisition of technology to enable an effective response to health emergencies.
The remaining funds, US$3.8 million, will be used for project management, monitoring, and auditing to ensure proper execution and supervision of the project.
