El Salvador continues to advance in its commitment to technology, innovation and economy, as it is estimated that the startup ecosystem in the country is worth around US$330 million. For this reason, it participates for the first time in the WebSummit in Lisbon, Portugal, the most relevant event in the technological and digital field worldwide.
This friday, the minister of Economy, María Luisa Hayem, together with the President of Invest in El Salvador, Rodrigo Ayala, highlighted the importance of this participation in the framework of the government’s Economic Plan, which seeks to position the country on the international stage.
The salvadoran delegation is made up of 11 startups that are in a promising growth phase, and their trip has been possible thanks to the support of Impact Hub San Salvador, a reference in the innovation ecosystem in the country. José Rodríguez, co-founder of Impact Hub, says that the presence of these innovators at WebSummit is an achievement of the joint work between the public and private sector and reflects the initiatives promoted by the Government of El Salvador to strengthen the development of the digital sector.
Participation in this event offers salvadoran startups a valuable opportunity to connect with global investors, establish strategic alliances and learn about cutting-edge technology trends. “WebSummit is a unique platform for our startups to expand their horizons and attract the attention of foreign capital”, said Minister Hayem. This international exhibition will also allow startups to generate new investment opportunities that will directly contribute to El Salvador’s economic growth.
In addition to the financial impact, the development of the technology and digital sector is a priority for the government, which seeks to generate quality jobs and improve the country’s competitiveness. Startups attending the WebSummit will be able to apply innovations and learning in the local context, thus contributing to the creation of a more dynamic and attractive ecosystem for young technology talent, who will now see greater opportunities for growth in their own country.
With this participation, El Salvador takes a decisive step towards its goal of becoming a regional center for technological innovation. This effort to foster the growth of national startups is a clear sign of the country’s commitment to adapt to the global digital economy.
