In september 2024, El Salvador’s exports reached US$540.75 million, which represented an increase of US$5.4 million compared to the previous month, when US$535.61 million were reported.
Compared to september 2023, there was a considerable increase of US$38.3 million, since in that month last year exports totaled US$502.4 million. This growth reflects a positive performance in the country’s foreign trade.
During the period from january to september 2024, cumulative exports exceeded US$4,860.2 million. This performance was mainly driven by demand from the manufacturing industry, which recorded sales of US$444.55 million, positioning itself as the sector with the highest contribution to the country’s exports.
Other products with high demand in international markets were agricultural products, with revenues of US$14.21 million, followed by coffee with US$10.60 million and sugar with US$8.14 million. These products continue to be relevant within the salvadoran export supply, standing out for their value added and quality.
El Salvador’s main trading partner continues to be the United States, which acquired 33.6% of total Salvadoran exports in september 2024. This market is crucial for the country’s economic development, followed by Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua, which are also among the main destinations for salvadoran products.
In addition, other countries such as Costa Rica, Mexico and Panama have also increased their demand for salvadoran products, broadening the diversification of export destinations. This growth in exports to various international markets reflects the country’s competitiveness and ability to adapt to global demands.
