A report by Centroamérica Estadísticas confirms that El Salvador ranks as the country with the lowest fuel prices in the region, setting itself apart from the rest of the Central American nations.
Currently, prices per gallon in El Salvador stand at US$3.97 for regular gasoline, US$4.29 for premium gasoline, and US$4.15 for diesel, figures that place it below all its neighbors.
In contrast, in Guatemala, prices reach US$5.03 for regular gasoline, US$5.17 for premium, and US$5.55 for diesel, making it one of the countries with the highest costs.

For its part, Honduras reports US$4.45 for regular, US$5.05 for premium, and US$4.84 for diesel, while Nicaragua reports US$4.94 for regular, US$5.06 for premium, and US$4.47 for diesel.
In Costa Rica, prices are also higher than in El Salvador, at $4.83 for regular gasoline, $5.03 for premium, and $4.21 for diesel. Finally, Panama’s prices stand at $4.42 for regular, $4.75 for premium, and $5.14 for diesel.
This comparison highlights a significant gap in El Salvador’s favor, where filling up the tank is considerably cheaper. The difference, which in some cases exceeds one dollar per gallon, provides direct relief for drivers and productive sectors.

Lower fuel costs also help reduce transportation expenses, which contributes to keeping prices for goods and services more stable in the country. This factor has greater significance in a regional context where energy costs continue to rise.
Thus, El Salvador stands out not only for offering the most affordable fuel in Central America but also for the positive impact this has on the daily economy of its people and the country’s competitiveness.
