A. M. As part of its economic diplomacy strategy, the Government of El Salvador held the Trade Forum “El Salvador: A reliable partner for investment and business” in Chongqing, China. This event, organized by the Salvadoran Embassy in that country and with the support of the Chongqing Foreign Affairs Office, brought together more than 50 Chinese companies from key sectors such as automotive, manufacturing, technology, and coffee, with the goal of attracting foreign direct investment to the country.
During the event, salvadoran authorities highlighted the country’s economic progress and the strategic reforms implemented to create a competitive, transparent, and secure business environment. The Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Adriana Mira, and the President of Invest El Salvador, Rodrigo Ayala, agreed that El Salvador maintains sustained growth in foreign direct investment thanks to institutional support and a favorable legal framework that simplifies procedures and fosters new business opportunities.
El Salvador’s ambassador to China, Luis López, emphasized that the country is presenting itself today as a renewed economy, open to the world and committed to attracting foreign capital. “We have competitive tax incentives, legal security, and preferential access to more than 40 international markets”, he emphasized. He also highlighted the transformation in security, which has consolidated El Salvador’s position as the safest country in the Western Hemisphere.
Strategic areas with high investment potential were showcased at the forum, such as the automotive industry, advanced manufacturing, technology, digital services, plastics, and logistics. These opportunities, along with stable macroeconomic conditions, make El Salvador an attractive destination for companies interested in expanding operations in Latin America.
The salvadoran delegation reiterated its willingness to work closely with Chongqing institutions and business leaders, fostering lasting and mutually beneficial trade relations. The message was clear: El Salvador is a reliable, modern, and forward-thinking economic partner that continues to open doors to international trade and investment.
