The Dirección General de Energía, Hidrocarburos y Minas (DGEHM) informs that the prices of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) cylinders, in its different presentations, will experience a variation in june 2025, influenced by the following international factors:
- The International Energy Agency (IEA), reported increases in U.S. propane reserves of around 5.2 million barrels during the month of May, contributing to the drop in international prices of this derivative.
- The IEA recorded that propane consumption in the United States decreased by 100 thousand barrels per day in may, allowing greater availability for the international market.
- Propane production reached its historical maximum in the third week of may, reaching 2.85 million barrels per day, increasing the supply of this derivative in the international market.
The amount of the targeted LPG subsidy granted by the Government of El Salvador for june 2025 will be $8.04; therefore, beneficiaries will only contribute $3.09 to purchase a 25-pound cylinder.
This subsidy is granted to continue benefiting more than 1 million families that use LPG in their homes. The maximum retail price for a 10-pound cylinder will be $4.61; for a 20-pound cylinder, $8.98; for a 25-pound cylinder, $11.13; and for a 35-pound cylinder, $15.50.
The final consumer price for the month of june includes additional savings derived from the extension of the Special and Transitory Law for the Stabilization of LPG Prices contained in Legislative Decree 761. This measure has been continued to benefit the economy of salvadoran families.
In this way the Government maintains stable prices of LPG in all presentations of propane gas cylinders, counteracting the fluctuation of the international price of hydrocarbons and which is consumed by the entire population; the measure will last until may 31, 2026.
Likewise, the Government of President Nayib Bukele continues implementing economic measures to face global inflation, among which the Special and Transitory Law for the Stabilization of Liquefied Petroleum Gas Prices, extended by the Legislative Assembly, stands out, which is bringing relief to the economy of salvadoran families.
