The Government of El Salvador continues to consolidate actions to boost the economy and facilitate the attraction of new investments. As part of this effort, the Ministerio de Economía and the Oficina de Planificación del Área Metropolitana de San Salvador (COAMSS/OPAMSS) signed a cooperation agreement that will streamline procedures and improve coordination between key institutions for the country’s urban and economic development.

The minister of Economy, María Luisa Hayem, emphasized that this agreement is part of a broader strategy aimed at creating a favorable business environment. “We already have a level of security that eliminates barriers to economic development, and we have made progress in facilitating trade and digitizing procedures”, she said. According to the official, these advances have been decisive in increasing the confidence of local and international investors.

The agreement will strengthen the work of the Ministry of Economy’s Investment Directorate, promoting more efficient management of permit and authorization processes related to urban development projects in the capital and its surrounding areas. This coordination seeks to reduce processing times, eliminate duplication of efforts, and promote the orderly growth of the San Salvador Metropolitan Area.
The director of COAMSS/OPAMSS, Luis Rodríguez, explained that one of the main objectives of the agreement is to eliminate physical transfers and manual consultations between institutions. “This represents a key advance in shortening business process times and facilitating project execution”, said Rodríguez, highlighting the positive impact it will have on the country’s competitiveness.

With this initiative, the Government reaffirms its commitment to modernizing public management, providing legal certainty, and continuing to build an institutional environment that favors investment and sustainable economic growth.
