Salvadoran coffee continues to strengthen its presence in international markets, consolidating its position especially in Asia, where Japan has become the leading buyer of the country’s coffee beans in the region. This leadership reflects the growing preference of Japanese consumers for the quality, flavor profile, and consistency of coffee produced in El Salvador.
One of the most recent developments in this trade relationship is the addition of Sedai Coffee as a new customer of salvadoran coffee. The company has begun offering products made with this coffee in its establishments, highlighting its quality and distinctive characteristics within a highly demanding market.
This partnership was made possible thanks to the work of the salvadoran diplomatic mission, which facilitated contact between the Japanese company and Salvadoran suppliers. Through these efforts, the first purchase of salvadoran coffee was finalized, and it is already available in at least two Sedai Coffee locations in Tokyo.

The salvadoran ambassador to Japan, Diego Dalton, highlighted the positive progress of this trade relationship, which opens the door to new export opportunities and growth for the national coffee industry. He also emphasized the importance of these types of ties in further positioning the country as a reliable supplier in international markets.
In addition to becoming a client, Sedai Coffee participated in Pacamara Week 2026, an initiative aimed at promoting the Pacamara coffee variety, native to El Salvador and renowned for its high quality. These types of events contribute to strengthening the presence of salvadoran coffee in the Japanese market and fostering closer trade ties with key players in the sector.

Japan’s position as the main destination for salvadoran coffee in Asia is due to a combination of factors, including the high value placed on specialty products, openness to new flavor profiles, and confidence in the quality of the national bean. This scenario represents a strategic opportunity for salvadoran producers, who see this market as a space to grow and diversify their exports.
With these advances, El Salvador reaffirms its ability to compete in demanding markets and consolidates its coffee as one of the country’s flagship products, strengthening its international presence and generating new opportunities for the coffee sector.
