The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in coordination with the business sector and the Mayor’s Office of La Libertad Costa, organized a job fair that seeks to boost the local economy by providing job placement for returning migrants and those at risk of migration. This initiative, developed within the framework of the “Transforming Lives Program”, represents a strategic commitment to leveraging human talent as a driver of economic development.

During the event, more than 20 companies from key sectors such as telecommunications, hospitality, commerce, and manufacturing offered positions in areas such as sales, customer service, security, hospitality, and cash registers. Participating companies included Tigo, Walmart, Hanes Brands Inc., Pepsi, and Productos Diana, demonstrating their interest in strengthening their human capital through partnerships with reintegration programs.

The event not only opened job opportunities but also provided training services, technical certification, and access to seed capital. These initiatives seek to enhance participants’ employability and foster entrepreneurship, which in turn contributes to the economic stability of their communities of origin.
The fair was held at the Puerto de La Libertad Sports Center, allowing applicants to apply directly for available jobs in their area. This territorial approach helps reduce geographical barriers and promotes local hiring, strengthening the municipality’s economy and generating sustainable opportunities.

The testimonies of participants such as Gabriela Góchez and Anderson Ortiz reflected the positive impact of these fares on access to decent employment. Furthermore, they demonstrate how these types of initiatives not only prevent irregular migration but also become catalysts for local economic growth.
