
With an increase of over 10% in container traffic and an investment exceeding US$52 million, the Unión Portuaria del Pacífico (UPP) completed its first year of operations, demonstrating significant progress in the modernization and efficiency of the ports of Acajutla and La Unión.
These results are part of the strategic alliance between Comisión Ejecutiva Portuaria Autónoma (CEPA)and Yilport Holding Inc., aimed at strengthening the country’s port infrastructure and logistical competitiveness.
The general manager of the Unión Portuaria del Pacífico, Luis Canto, said that one of the main achievements has been the transformation of operational processes, accompanied by a comprehensive staff training program. He explained that more than 35,000 hours of training have been provided, which has improved operational efficiency and strengthened El Salvador’s human capital.

In addition to the growth in container handling, UPP reported an increase in the transport of construction materials, as well as the addition of more than 120 pieces of specialized equipment, designed to optimize port operations and raise service standards.
Robert Yuksel Yildirim, president of Yilport Holding Inc., stated that the progress achieved during this first year confirms El Salvador’s logistical potential and the viability of long-term projects focused on economic development and job creation.

The commemorative event was attended by port and economic sector authorities, as well as representatives from the business sector, who highlighted the positive impact of this alliance on modernizing logistics infrastructure and attracting private investment.
With these results, the Pacific Port Union positions itself as a key player in foreign trade, logistics competitiveness, and the country’s economic growth, closing its first year of operations with a clear commitment to efficiency, investment, and institutional strengthening.
