The Dirección General de Energía, Hidrocarburos y Minas (DGEHM) has announced propane gas prices for january 2025. Costs remain unchanged from previous months, benefiting thousands of salvadoran households thanks to the general and targeted subsidies that remain in place.
For the 35-pound cylinder, the price with the general subsidy is US$15.50, while with the targeted subsidy it drops to US$7.46. The 25-pound cylinder costs US$11.13 with the general subsidy, and only US$3.09 with the targeted subsidy.
The 20-pound cylinder, one of the most commonly used, remains priced at US$8.98 with the general subsidy, but for those with the targeted benefit, the cost is only US$0.94. In the case of the 10-pound cylinder, the price is US$4.61 with the general subsidy, but it is completely free for those who apply for the targeted subsidy.
The authorities urge citizens to verify whether they are beneficiaries of the targeted subsidy and to use it correctly. The objective is to promote the responsible use of government support and ensure that it reaches those who need it most.
The salvadoran government reaffirms its commitment to the family economy by maintaining these subsidies, which allow citizens to access this essential product at affordable prices. The continuity of these subsidies seeks to guarantee the welfare of the population at the beginning of the year.
