The financing comes from a loan obtained in october 2024 with the Corporación Andina de Fomento (CAF). Its purpose is to develop infrastructure to deploy a submarine cable to ensure high-speed internet in the country and its international connection.
This project will improve the quality of internet service and reduce costs for users. In addition, key sectors such as technology and financial services will benefit from increased network capacity and stability, boosting competitiveness in the global market.
The funds will finance the design, manufacture, transport and installation of the submarine cable in the ocean, as well as the construction of infrastructure on land. This will include the landing point, mooring stations, optical repeaters and other essential elements for the operation of the system.
The funds will also cover the integration of the submarine cable with the global telecommunications network and the operation of the Program Management Unit, responsible for the supervision and auditing of the project.
