The Ministerio de Turismo (Mitur) of El Salvador reported an important tourist activity during Easter Week, with more than 1.6 million people visiting parks and public beaches as part of domestic tourism, which represents a strong dynamizer for the local economy.

The minister of Tourism, Morena Valdez, also informed that 139,000 international tourists visited the country, exceeding the initial projection of 135,000. This tourist flow left a positive economic impact, especially in sectors such as transportation, commerce, lodging and gastronomy.
According to Mitur data, 43% of international visitors came from Guatemala, 24% from Honduras and 23% from the United States, including both U.S. citizens and Salvadoran residents in that country. Most of the tourists, some 104,000, entered by land, while another 35,000 entered by air.

Among the most popular destinations are the beaches of La Libertad, the Ruta de Las Flores and the historic center of San Salvador. In East Usulután, the Surf City 2 complex attracted thousands of tourists, mainly Hondurans, thanks to its new road and the expansion of its tourism infrastructure.
Domestic tourism also stood out, with thousands of salvadorans visiting the Biblioteca Nacional (BINAES) and the Port of La Libertad. These figures reflect not only a recovery of the tourism sector, but also its growing role as an engine of national economic development.
