With an investment of US$16,650, the Housing System delivered property deeds to 37 families in the department of Sonsonate. Of the total, 22 families are from the district of Santa Catarina Masahuat and 15 from Nahuizalco, communities that lived in high-risk areas and were relocated to safe land.
According to data published by the Ministry of Housing, the families from Santa Catarina Masahuat now reside in the Lotificación Nueva San Miguelito, a land acquired by the municipality after storms Amanda and Cristobal. To obtain their property, each family only had to make a symbolic contribution of US$50 to the municipality.

The 15 families of Nahuizalco benefited from land donated by the Asociación Cooperativa Despertar Alegre de R.L. After more than ten years searching for a solution, they finally obtained the legalization of their land with the support of the Ministry of Housing.
Of the total number of deeds delivered, 65% are in the names of women, strengthening their property security. In addition, this coordinated effort resulted in an economic recovery for the families valued at US$370,000, according to the Housing System.

The process to deliver the deeds included technical studies, cadastral and legal analysis, land measurement and legal procedures. The families also benefited from a 75% reduction in the fees of the Centro Nacional de Registros (CNR), facilitating the registration of their properties.
