The wait of more than two decades for 38 families of the Santa Fe III subdivision in Panchimalco, San Salvador, ended with the official delivery of property deeds, whose cumulative value amounts to US$380,000. This housing solution represents a step towards legal and economic stability for these families, who now have the certainty of being legal owners of their land.
The collective effort of the communities, supported by the relevant institutions, made it possible to manage these cases through the Mesa de Casos Colectivos. This mechanism was created with the objective of regularizing irregular lotifications and guaranteeing that Salvadorans have access to decent housing. “It has been years of uncertainty, but today we see the dream of our deeds come true”, said one of the beneficiaries.
This investment reflects the commitment to the recovery of the inhabitants’ rights. The beneficiaries highlighted how this process has given them back their peace of mind and hope, especially after years of legal struggles and unfulfilled promises. The initiative is an example of how coordinated work can transform lives.
Housing Minister Michelle Sol, who led the handover, noted that the resolution of these cases represents progress towards a more equitable El Salvador. However, the success of this action lies mainly in the perseverance of the families who did not cease in their search for justice. The activity was also attended by the President of the Defensoría del Consumidor, Ricardo Salazar.
These deeds not only ensure legal stability, but also open up opportunities for families to invest in the future, either by improving their homes or accessing financing. This type of housing solution sets a positive precedent for other communities in similar situations.
