The Government of El Salvador, through the Instituto Salvadoreño de Turismo (ISTU), announced the investment of US$7 million in the remodeling of the Costa del Sol recreational park. This initiative seeks to offer salvadoran families more modern, safe, and accessible tourist spaces.

The president of ISTU, Eny Aguiñada, said that this effort is part of a comprehensive plan to improve the quality of national recreational parks. According to her, the objective is to surpass even the standards of private investment and guarantee healthy entertainment options.
Aguiñada emphasized that ISTU parks are alcohol and tobacco free spaces, especially designed for family recreation. “We want to increase investments in the public sector, which are better than the private sector”, she said.

As part of the strategy to reinforce the tourist offer during the august vacations, the ISTU is also preparing a series of special activities in the main parks of the country. These activities will include cultural and recreational activities for children and adults.
The official also announced the upcoming inauguration of a tourist terminal in San Sebastián, San Vicente. The purpose of this project is to promote tourism in the eastern part of the country with an offer focused on local history and handicraft traditions.

The terminal will have spaces for visitors to learn about and participate in the making of hammocks, one of the most representative products of the municipality. “In August they will be able to visit this new space,” Aguiñada assured.
The government reaffirmed its commitment to the development of domestic tourism as a way to boost the local economy, decentralize tourism and promote the salvadoran cultural heritage.
