If you are salvadoran and wish to travel outside the country, it is important to remember that there are protocols and requirements to cross borders between countries, this measure seeks to ensure the safety of those who travel, and comply with regional regulations on migration.

Valdez shares that for salvadorans traveling to Mexico, Costa Rica and Panama they will always be asked for their passport, and in the case of nationalities that are part of the CA4* they can enter with their Identification Document, this means that salvadorans can enter Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua with their Identity Document.
In addition, the Cristóbal Colón expert shares the following recommendations that may help passengers during border crossings:
– Bring the round trip ticket from the country of origin, either printed or digital.
– Have the hotel reservation or place where you will be staying.
– Proof of economic solvency (present credit card or bank statements).
Central America: Salvadoran travelers who wish to visit the countries of the CA-4 region Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, only need the Documento Único de Identidad (DUI) or passport.
To travel to any other country in the region, a passport in good condition and valid for at least six months is required.
If the traveler is a child or adolescent, it is mandatory to present a valid passport in good condition, as well as to be accompanied by both parents. If not accompanied by one of the parents, a notarized document prepared by a salvadoran lawyer or via consulate and authorized by the parent absent on the trip must be presented.
