The magic of Act 2 of the 2025 Season will begin on may 1st with “Arte,” one of the most iconic productions of the Teatro Luis Poma and Fundación Poma, and will run until june 15th with six more shows that promise an emotional recharge.

Unlike other years, this 2025 the Poma has divided its program into three Acts, which means a wide and varied offering of shows for the public and more opportunities for visiting artists and theater groups.
“Theater has the unique ability to address difficult issues through comedy and original staging. The audience at Act 2 will be amazed by the diversity of the proposals and genres addressed by the different groups”, commented Roberto Salomón, artistic director of the Teatro Luis Poma, during the launch conference for the 2025 Season, entitled «El Poma, irrepetible».
“For 20 years, the Fundación Poma has maintained a firm commitment to art and culture in El Salvador. The Teatro Luis Poma is a pioneering model for artistic programming, which has contributed to the professionalization of the theater community and brought quality performances to audiences at an affordable price”, explained Juanita Zelaya de Müller, executive director of the Fundación Poma.

Zelaya explained that, as part of the Foundation’s social vision, this year they will also promote “Primera Fila”, an initiative that allows postgraduate and high school students to enjoy a professional theater experience at El Poma. She also highlighted the “Reading Afternoons at El Poma”, family-friendly guided reading sessions that, for the past couple of years, have become a new form of fun, entertainment, and learning.
SENTÍ EL TEATRO | Act 2 Season 2025 El Poma, irrepetible from may 1 to 4 “Arte”, by Yasmina Reza This comedy by Yasmina Reza, directed by Roberto Salomón, explores friendship and art through the relationship of three friends: Sergio, Marcos and Iván. The plot revolves around the purchase of a completely white painting, which provokes debates and conflicts between the friends. Marcos does not understand how Sergio has spent so much money on what he considers a worthless work, while Iván tries to mediate between them.

From may 15th to 18th, “Emocionalmente” by Alicia Chong. In this autobiographical monologue, Alicia Chong, a salvadoran actress living in Spain, portrays with humor and emotion her experience with dyslexia and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Alicia conducted extensive research and tested parts of the play with students to create a scientifically based social-artistic experiment. She is also part of Emocionalmente Teatro Inclusivo, a project that seeks to change perceptions of neurodivergence through theater, workshops, and talks in Latin America and Europe. Acted in, produced, and directed by Alicia Chong.

From may 29th to june 1st, “Negra me dicen,” by Lorena Juárez Saavedra. In this vibrant and dreamlike production, directed by Colombian Pamela Pérez Rosso, Efigenia returns to her hometown with a mission: to fulfill her mother’s last wish, who asked to rest eternally at sea. Upon her return, the past envelops her. Juana, her ancestral spirit, becomes her guide on a journey where memories emerge, bringing with them buried truths, silenced wounds, and still-burning secrets.

From june 5th to 15th, “El Cavernícola”, by Rob Becker. This one-man show explores the differences between men and women in living together as a couple with sharp, everyday humor. In this version, the story focuses on a young married couple, where each anecdote and observation become a hilarious reflection of life as a couple.
From june 26th to 29th, “The Last Journey of Laughter”, by Enrique Valencia. Set in an undefined ancient time, the plot follows the adventures and misadventures of a troupe of traveling comedians who, on their journey, arrive at a town called Doncella, get lost, and end up in a land called Rojo.

From july 10th to 13th, “Así-calados”, by Dinora Alfaro Premiere The play follows Sara, who grooms herself daily to hide her wounds and thus show a perfect life. Tired of this sterile practice, she seeks more decisive solutions. Upon meeting “Him,” her life regains the meaning lost due to a guilt that should never have been hers. The central themes of this play, winner of the First Teatro Luis Poma Playwriting Competition, are love and forgiveness. From july 23rd to 27th, “Centroamérica Ríe” Comedy Festival. Laughter is the connecting point between comedian and audience. The variety of styles and topics makes each performance enjoyable. In the “Stand-up Comedy” genre, each comedian will share their experiences and antics, seeking to elicit laughter from the audience. A festival that brings together comedians from Central, South, and North America, who will share their best material for a week. This edition will include Spain.
