This practical resource offers clear and free guidance for coffee producers, cooperatives, and exporters in El Salvador.
The European Union in El Salvador and the International Trade Centre (ITC) launched the El Salvador Coffee Business Guide: Navigating the EUDR Due Diligence Obligations on October 2 in El Salvador.

The event included the participation of the European Union Delegation in El Salvador, as well as representatives from the Ministerio de Economía and the Instituto Salvadoreño del Café (ISC), strategic partner institutions of the ITC in the review of the document and the implementation of the EU-funded Ilamatepec Project.
The El Salvador Coffee Business Guide is a practical resource designed to support producers, cooperatives, and exporters in complying with the European Union’s Deforestation-Free Products Regulation (EUDR). Based on the specific reality and challenges of El Salvador, it includes a detailed explanation of the information requirements, concrete examples, national case studies, and a step-by-step guide to facilitating the export of Salvadoran coffee to the European market.

During the event, the European Union Ambassador to El Salvador, Duccio Bandini, stated:
“This publication is part of the implementation of the Trade Pillar of the Association Agreement between the European Union and Central America. The EUDR, in addition to promoting environmental practices associated with trade, seeks to strengthen the competitiveness of these sectors by promoting sustainable and transparent supply chains”
Beatriz Rodríguez, ITC Trade Promotion Officer and Ilamatepec Project Manager, stated:
“This guide is not only a support tool for the coffee sector, but also an invitation for producers, cooperatives, and companies to work together to position Salvadoran coffee as a benchmark for quality, sustainability, and global competitiveness”.

With this initiative, the ITC and its partners reaffirm their commitment to promoting more transparent, sustainable, and competitive trade, supporting the Salvadoran coffee sector in strengthening its presence in the European market.
The document is part of the toolkit developed within the framework of the project, along with the Comercio Libre de Deforestación (DFTG) and the online course on the EUDR regulation, both freely accessible.

These actions equip value chain actors with the knowledge and resources necessary to understand the regulation, assess risks, and prepare data for due diligence reporting, thus contributing to deforestation-free value chains and unhindered international trade.
