The salvadoran artisan sector continues to expand its opportunities for growth, commercialization and innovation thanks to initiatives that recognize and enhance local talent. This wednesday, the Comisión Nacional de la Micro y Pequeña Empresa (CONAMYPE) delivered the production capital to the winners of the Premio Nacional de Artesanías 2025, a recognition that highlights the cultural, economic and social value of crafts in the country.

During the ceremony, the president of CONAMYPE, Paul Steiner, emphasized that the award seeks not only to recognize the pieces made, but also to promote the sustainability and development of artisan workshops.
“The idea is to reward not only what was produced, but also to allocate an amount for investment; that is, aimed at the sustainability and development of each artisan’s workshop, which in the ideal world would be to encourage them to grow as producers” ,he said.
CONAMYPE, s business development director, Carlos Carbajal, also addressed a message to the 21 artisans recognized in various categories, including: crafts in tourism promotion, living tradition, young talent, outstanding exportable crafts, Christmas tradition, public favorite, heritage crafts and skill in artisanal trades.
“This money that you will have today is for investment in your businesses, so that you can develop them further. From CONAMYPE, we try to open spaces for you to see further and open to new frontiers”, he said.

Carbajal also highlighted the importance of making the most of the support provided:
“The support provided is free so that you can take full advantage, have more knowledge and be visionary; develop your businesses more and try to market your products in other establishments. If you are successful, your families will also be successful and you will be able to further develop your communities”, he said.

The Premio Nacional de Artesanías has established itself as a space that promotes cultural innovation and the sustainable development of artisan communities. Steiner explained that the categories encourage the evolution of traditional techniques applied to contemporary products, even highlighting innovative materials such as fish leather.

“The idea is to promote the application of yesterday’s artisanal techniques in a current product. We have everything from the oldest techniques to new proposals”, he said.
With this initiative, CONAMYPE reaffirms its commitment to make visible, strengthen and position the artisan sector as an essential pillar of the salvadoran economy, contributing to improving the quality of life of hundreds of families and projecting national talent inside and outside the country.
