Committed to quality, innovation, and sustainability, Cementos Progreso presents the Excellence Award for the first time in El Salvador. This award recognizes outstanding projects for their construction quality, innovation, architectural functionality, and commitment to sustainability, encouraging professional excellence and positive impact on society.

This prestigious award, established in 1995, is presented every three years to recognize outstanding buildings in the fields of urban development, housing, and infrastructure, developed by the most prominent builders.

The award seeks to recognize and promote the professional capacity, innovation, and technical and creative efforts of executing companies that have developed outstanding and sustainable projects in the country. During the information breakfast, the projects proposed locally for participation in the regional competition, which will be held in Guatemala City in may 2026, were presented, as well as the evaluation criteria for submitting projects to the regional event.

Economic Overview
A detailed analysis of the salvadoran economy reveals a panorama of growth and challenges, according to recent data. Confidence in the economy remains strong, driven by liquidity and investment. The agreement with the IMF is a key element, as it is expected to stabilize public finances and avoid the need for new taxes or fiscal adjustments, a positive factor for economic certainty.
Real GDP growth has been dynamic. After a decline of 8.2% in 2020, the economy recovered with a notable 10.3% in 2021. By 2025, real GDP is estimated to return to 2.6% growth. This cycle, although slower, indicates a phase of economic consolidation. However, structural limitations persist that must be addressed to achieve greater levels of expansion.

The construction sector stands out as the main driver of growth for 2025, with a growth projection that places it in a leading position. It is closely followed by the Transportation and Financial sectors, which also show positive performance.
International trade presents a landscape of varied tariffs. Several Central American countries are reported to have a minimum tariff of 10%. In comparison, Honduras’ trading partners, such as Brazil, apply a tariff of 50%, Vietnam 20%, Mexico 30%, and Costa Rica 15%. This context underscores the importance of El Salvador’s trade strategy to negotiate agreements that benefit its position in the global market.
