The president of the Comisión Ejecutiva Portuaria Autónoma (CEPA), Federico Anliker López, announced that a special plan will be implemented at Aeropuerto Internacional de El Salvador “San Óscar Arnulfo Romero y Galdámez”, from july 27 to august 8, with the goal of efficiently serving the thousands of passengers arriving and departing during the vacation period.

According to Anliker, a flow of 170,000 passengers is expected during this season, representing a 2.5% increase compared to the same period last year. Additionally, approximately 1,400 commercial flight operations are projected, 5% more than in 2024. To ensure optimal service, more than 1,800 employees are assigned to the airport.
“We handle between 150 and 160 commercial operations daily, and we are ready to serve every passenger entering, leaving, or transiting through the airport with quality, friendliness, and efficiency”, said the president of CEPA, highlighting the staff’s training and inter-institutional coordination.

During this holiday season, the arrival of 90,000 international visitors is projected, of which 44% will enter the country by air. Anliker also indicated that El Salvador received nearly 2 million international visitors in the first quarter of 2025 alone, allowing them to project a new record in tourism by the end of the year.
Currently, 13 passenger airlines and six cargo airlines operate at the airport. The official also highlighted that talks are ongoing with Iberojet, which has expressed interest in establishing new routes, and announced that a new US airline will begin operations in the country next year.

Anliker emphasized that CEPA is working in coordination with the Ministerio de Turismo (MITUR) and the Corporación Salvadoreña de Turismo (Corsatur) to attract more visitors and strengthen tourism as a key element of the “economic miracle” promoted by President Nayib Bukele.
