dinero_admin The Defensoría del Consumidor (DC) has initiated legal proceedings to protect families residing in residential developments managed by Seguridad Activa, S.A. de C.V., following the announcement of a unilateral increase in the prices of services such as security, gardening, and park maintenance. The institution indicated that these charges could be considered illegal due to the lack of contractual or legal support
According to the Consumer Protection Law, charging fees without legal or contractual justification constitutes an abusive practice punishable by fines of up to 500 times the monthly urban minimum wage. The Defensoría del Consumidor warned that these increases, implemented arbitrarily, directly affect the economic rights of salvadoran families.
As part of the investigation, the DC has requested a detailed report from Seguridad Activa, including a breakdown of the increases, the dates they were applied, and the names of the affected housing complexes. This request was notified on Wednesday, giving the company ten business days to provide the requested information.
The state agency reminded that all service providers are required to provide the information requested by law. Failure to comply, whether by refusing to respond, providing false information, or doing so outside the established deadline, constitutes a very serious violation and is also subject to financial penalties.
The Defensoría del Consumidor reiterates its commitment to safeguarding the rights of the public and makes its reporting and advisory channels available to residents affected by improper charges or abusive practices in their communities.
