El Salvador reaffirms its commitment to local development, coffee growing, and tourism with the inauguration of the Café de El Salvador coffee shop at the Plan Trifinio Hotel, Restaurant, and School in La Palma, Chalatenango.
The opening was presided over by the Vice President of the Republic, Félix Ulloa Jr., in his capacity as a member of the Tri-national Commission of Plan Trifinio, because of the cooperation agreement between Plan Trifinio y el Instituto Salvadoreño del Café (ISCAFE).

This new space will offer 100% national coffee from the regions of Apaneca-Ilamatepec, Bálsamo-Quezaltepec, Chichontepec, Tecapa-Chinameca, Alotepec-Metapán, and Cacahuatique, consolidating a strategic synergy that will strengthen the coffee value chain through innovation, local training, and sustainability.
Vice President Ulloa said that these types of projects represent an opportunity to revitalize salvadoran agriculture, a sector that, he said, was neglected by previous governments. “Today, El Salvador is moving forward with a new vision, restoring coffee’s prominence as an economic engine, a symbol of identity, and a source of national pride”, he said.

The Trifinio El Salvador region, covering nearly 1,200 km², produces approximately 5% of the world’s coffee, demonstrating its extraordinary productive potential. Ulloa also highlighted the sustainability efforts promoted by the Dirección Ejecutiva Nacional del Plan Trifinio (DENPT), where, through the SISTAGRO program, organic fertilizer is produced and thousands of seedlings are delivered to reforest forests, strengthen food security, and boost the local economy.
The President of ISCAFE pointed out that the initiative responds to the vision of President Nayib Bukele, who promotes inter-institutional cooperation to stimulate coffee growing, tourism, and local economies. The Institute also equipped and remodeled the cafeteria, providing a modern and welcoming space, in addition to training local staff in barista skills and preparation methods.

The Director Ejecutivo Nacional del Plan Trifinio El Salvador, Jorge Urbina explained that the café will be open from wednesday to sunday, offering a comprehensive experience with international cuisine, authentic Salvadoran flavors, and the best coffee in the country.
The opening was attended by the Italian Ambassador, Paolo Emanuele Rozo Sordini; the Spanish Ambassador, Sonia Álvarez; the Executive Director of ESIAP, Claudia de Larin; and coffee growers from the area, who agreed that this initiative strengthens the regional economy and opens new opportunities for local producers.

With actions such as this, the Government of El Salvador is consolidating its strategy to promote specialty coffees and strengthen the regional economy through tourism and productive diversification, reaffirming that coffee continues to be an emblem of sustainable development and national pride.
