The Fundación Gloria Kriete (FGK) and PBS El Salvador announced the launch of the Second Edition of the “Mentoring” Program, an initiative that seeks to guide and train young people of the Oportunidades Program, for their personal and professional development through mentoring.
The launching of the second edition of Mentoring is the result of the success cases obtained during the first edition, in which 22 teams of mentors and young people from the program participated. During the mentoring, we sought to develop the professional skills necessary for young people to position themselves in the world of work in areas of technology and innovation, this successful methodology of accompaniment gave as preliminary results 8 permanent hires and 12 paid internships.
“At Fundación Gloria Kriete we believe in the potential of people and their transformative power. To date, the program has impacted the lives of 4,382 young people across the country. We want every young person to have the opportunity to be their best version of themselves. Therefore, we promote their growth and employability through partnerships with companies with which we share the same objective”, said Juana Jule, executive director of Fundación Gloria Kriete. For the continuation of this program, PBS will have volunteer talent, managers and supervisors from different areas, who have received mentoring training focused on coaching and enhancing the professional skills of young people who are in the process of completing their university studies and who are looking for an entry into the workplace.
“My experience as a mentor and that of all our volunteers was phenomenal; seeing the new generations prepared by the foundation, their humility, their desire to grow and fulfill their dreams together with the experience of our talents who decided to donate their time and energy to help young people who have spectacular talent motivated us to carry out this second edition of the program”, explained Mirian Alas, General manager of PBS El Salvador.
The Fundación Gloria de Kriete trained volunteer collaborators, transferring the mentoring methodology, which consists of:
● Developing effective communication skills, teamwork and problem solving
● Formulating the objective to be achieved through mentoring
● Identifying the tools needed for the current work environment and future technology trends
“In the Oportunidades Program we have seen how personalized accompaniment and coaching has marked the success of each stage of the young person in the program; so we are sure that having a team of 30 such committed mentors will guide the boys in their labor insertion and above all will give them a valuable perspective that they take with them throughout their professional career”, said Monica de Galvez, Director of Employability FGK.
This innovative mentoring program seeks to provide young people with a comprehensive experience where there is a combination of technical and professional skills, but also brings them closer to the technology industry. In the second stage, there will be 30 volunteer mentors,
This number has increased compared to the first stage. “PBS together with FGK, we are building bridges to professional success, equipping the next generation with the tools and support needed to succeed in their search for their first job”, concluded Mirian Alas.
