Assembly allocates $80 million to the Energy Sector Mitigation Fund to strengthen electricity supply
With 57 votes in favor, the Legislative Assembly approved a reform to the 2025 Budget Law to allocate $80 million to the Fondo de Inversión Nacional en Electricidad y Telefonía (FINET).

These resources will finance the Fondo de Mitigación del Sector Energía (FMSE), which is intended to guarantee the stability of electricity and telephone supply in rural and low-income communities. The measure seeks to strengthen energy infrastructure and ensure the continuity of basic services in vulnerable areas.

The fund is administered by the General Directorate of Subsidies of the Ministry of Finance and is part of the reforms approved on July 3, 2025, to modernize the energy sector in El Salvador.
