dinero_admin The Finance Committee of the Legislative Assembly issued three favorable opinions, two of them focused on granting sovereign guarantee to loans that the Banco de Desarrollo de El Salvador (BANDESAL) acquired with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).

The first of these loans is for US$60 million and will be used for the Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Program for Micro, Small, and Medium-Sized Enterprises (MSMEs). These funds will be used to finance projects that help save energy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by implementing efficient technologies such as solar and biogas systems.
The second loan, for US$130 million, is aimed at promoting the technological and digital transformation of MSMEs in the country. These resources will be used to purchase equipment and software, hire maintenance, training, and certifications, and build or remodel data centers.
Both programs require the sovereign guarantee of the State for their execution. According to Adilia Reyes, Deputy Director of Investment and Public Credit of the Ministry of Finance, the financing seeks to strengthen the competitiveness of the MSME sector, ensuring access to credit under favorable conditions.
The third approved opinion broadens the scope of the “Special and Transitory Provisions for the Acquisition, Contracting and Payment of Works, Goods and Services Related to Tourism Projects”. The reform will make it possible to include educational infrastructure in these provisions, facilitating the execution of projects related to tourism and the improvement of cultural and sports facilities.
These initiatives reflect the Government’s effort to promote the economic and technological development of the country, supporting MSMEs and improving key infrastructure for the sustainable growth of El Salvador.
