The Government of El Salvador continues to strengthen medical tourism, betting on strategic investments that make the country an attractive destination for international patients. With high quality health services, advanced technology and accessible costs, the country seeks to consolidate its position in the sector, benefiting both visitors and the local population.
The Minister of Tourism, Morena Valdez, together with the Executive Director of Corsatur, Alejandra Durán, toured Avante Hospital Especializado to see the medical services available. Valdez pointed out that this type of tourism has grown in demand, especially among the Salvadoran diaspora, and that it will be connected with other tourism initiatives such as Surf City in La Libertad.
Thanks to improvements in security, infrastructure and streamlined procedures, El Salvador has positioned itself as a competitive destination for specialized medical treatments. Dental procedures, cosmetic surgeries and ophthalmology, among others, are increasingly requested by visitors seeking quality care at affordable prices.
The executive director of Corsatur emphasized that, although medical tourism is a health service, it is directly linked to the tourism industry, since patients usually combine their treatment with visits to different destinations in the country. This generates a positive impact on the economy and on the promotion of El Salvador as an integral destination.
The Government will continue to promote policies that encourage the growth of medical tourism, ensuring optimal conditions for investment and development of the sector. With an expanding health infrastructure and an increasingly solid air connectivity, El Salvador is moving towards its consolidation as a regional reference in medical tourism.
