The Consejo Monetario Centroamericano (CMCA) places El Salvador in third place in the monthly increase of the Índice de Precios al Consumidor (IPC) for the month of april, with an overall index of 130.45 points.
This index measures price changes from one month to another, through the monitoring of a basket of goods and services previously defined and that households buy and use directly or indirectly to satisfy their own needs and desires in Central America and the Dominican Republic.
In the ranking with the highest prices in the region is Honduras with a General Index of 432.8 points and a monthly variation of 0.28%, followed by Nicaragua with a score of 308.41 in its General Index and a monthly variation of 0.43%.
El Salvador is in third place with a General Index of 130.45 points and a variation of 0.28%, followed by the Dominican Republic with 127.35 points and a monthly variation of -0.10%, followed by Panama with 111.12 points in its General Index and a variation of 0.15%.
In the last positions is Costa Rica with a General index of 109.46 points and a variation of 0.33%, culminating with Guatemala with 100.77 points and a variation percentage of 0.29%.
The evolution of prices in the region has been on a constant rise, except for the Dominican Republic, due to increases in fuel and transportation costs that have raised the prices of the basic food basket.
