The Government of El Salvador, through the Administración Nacional de Acueductos y Alcantarillados (ANDA), has allocated US$200 million to improve the drinking water distribution network, mainly in the San Salvador Metropolitan Area. This investment is part of a comprehensive plan to guarantee equitable and efficient access to water resources.

One of the most important projects is the rehabilitation of the Northern Zone System, which includes the modernization of 19 wells and the installation of 24 kilometers of pipelines. ANDA’s president, Jorge Castaneda, explained that these works will benefit thousands of inhabitants, improving supply and reducing service deficiencies.

In addition, ANDA has intensified efforts to repair leaks and water spills in different areas of the country. According to Castaneda, more than 11,000 repair actions have been carried out so far this year, which has made it possible to optimize the pressure in the pipes and reduce the waste of the resource.
The modernization of water infrastructure also includes the installation of new distribution networks to ensure a more efficient and sustainable service. These improvements not only optimize access to drinking water, but also strengthen the capacity to respond to growing demand.

The Government reaffirms its commitment to continue implementing strategic projects that improve the quality of life of Salvadorans. Through these investments, it seeks to ensure that more families have access to a reliable and continuous drinking water service.
