The Ministry of Housing delivered property deeds valued at more than US$1.4 million to 141 families that had been victims of a scam by the company Corporación Argoz S.A. de C.V. The families, some of whom had been waiting up to 42 years for this document, now have titles duly registered in their favor.

This delivery benefited residents of 34 subdivisions located in ten departments of the country. Most of the deeds belonged to El Chaparral, Las Victorias and Amparito, which date back more than 40 years.
The Minister of Housing, Michelle Sol, regretted that these people lived for decades in uncertainty despite having paid for their land. She emphasized that justice is being done by giving them back the legal right to their properties.

“The effort of this government is to restore peace of mind to these families. It is an act of justice”, said the official, who presided over the delivery event together with community leaders.

With this action, the National Housing System has managed to regularize 65,901 lots nationwide. This represents a recovered patrimony of more than US$659 million for thousands of salvadoran families.
Genara Bonilla, one of the beneficiaries, expressed her joy at finally receiving the document that guarantees her property. She thanked the Government for not leaving them in oblivion after so many years of waiting.

These actions reflect the Executive’s commitment to fair access to housing. They also show the will to repair abuses committed by companies that for years profited from the need of the population.
