The legislature approved an amendment to the 2025 Budget Law to incorporate US$13,500,000 to the Health sector. The funds, which come from external loans, were approved with 57 votes and will allow for the improvement of medical care in the country.

The amount will be used for the implementation of the Programa de Salud Inteligente e Integral (PROSINT), focused on strengthening care for Enfermedades Crónicas no Transmisibles (NCDs). This project will combine physical infrastructure and digital solutions to improve access to medical services.
Priority diseases within the program include cardiac conditions, cancer, hypertension and diabetes. These funds are expected to modernize the health system and expand coverage in different areas of the country.
The investment will be distributed in five main areas. One of them is the implementation of the digital health model, with an amount of US$608,000, earmarked for hiring personnel for the Centro Virtual de Atención en Salud (C-VIDAS).
Another key axis is the strengthening of health resilience and the expansion of specialized coverage, with US$11,028,335. These resources will finance the construction and supervision of the Unidad de Salud Especializada de Apopa y la Torre Hospitalaria del Hospital de San Bartolo.

In addition, US$60,000 will be invested in strengthening the emergency services network, while US$1,348,665 will be used for institutional strengthening through the acquisition of software, computer equipment, and laboratory supplies. In addition, US$455,000 will be used for the administration and operation of the Project Management Unit (PMU).
With these resources, the health sector seeks to modernize its system and improve medical care nationwide, benefiting thousands of citizens.
